Taubman Student Center Under Construction

SOUTHFIELD, MI-A. Alfred Taubman never graduated from Lawrence Technological University but donated $4 million toward construction of the 38,000-sf, three-story building named in his honor.

The A. Alfred Taubman Student Services Center will consolidate all student support services on the school's 120-acre campus. Taubman was at a groundbreaking ceremony Friday. Taubman took architectural classes at Lawrence Tech from 1948-49 but never graduated. The company he founded, Taubman Centers Inc., currently owns and operates 31 shopping malls in 13 states.

"Just as Mr. Taubman redefined the American shopping experience through innovative merchandising and retail design, our Student Services Center will redefine the student experience at Lawrence Tech," says university president Charles M. Chambers.
