10/06/04: On the heels of last week's presidential debate, the current administration is eagerly awaiting the Bureau of Labor Statistics' new job figures. The anticipation is well-founded since there's an expected increase of more than 380,000 jobs. Well-timed indeed since Friday night's second debate will focus on domestic issues. Based on performance, there is no secret about who won the first debate(substance is another issue and we'll leave it to the pundits and spin masters to rate that for us, since they really aren't interested in our opinions). However, I hope the President doesn't lead with: "See, I told you, this economy is growing," and attempt to take credit for what is out of anyone's control. If the President can define the debate and make his case as a person who cares, he will be in good shape. If not he may be revisiting President #41's plight.
