Meanwhile, the recently renovated Genesee Theatre in Downtown Waukegan will open Dec. 3, with comedian Bill Cosby performing. Residential redevelopment is expected to begin within the next 12 months, with building moving south within the next two years, and north within the next five years.
The Downtown redevelopment will ultimately add 4,000 homes and 1 million sf of retail and entertainment space. A marina also will be improved and changes will be made to make the Metra commuter station more accessible to pedestrians.
