Anthrax Vaccine Maker Will Open in Converted 150,000-SF Building

FREDERICK, MD-The state puts together a $10 million incentive package to help facilitate the development of a vaccine manufacturing facility for Emergent BioLogics Inc. The company plans to convert an existing 150,000-sf building to meet is needs for the manufacturing of an anthrax vaccine.

In an effort to assist in the redevelopment project, the State of Maryland has offered Emergent BioLogics a $2.5 million conditional loan from the Maryland Economic Development Assistance Fund, and a Maryland Industrial Development Financing Authority package of $7.5 million in loan guarantees. "The decision to locate the new Emergent BioLogics manufacturing facility in Frederick County is a tremendous win for both the county and the state," Maryland Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. says.
