The complex, which company officials term a regional master parts distribution center, is part of a general overhaul of the automaker's parts distribution system in North America. According to Paul Halata, CEO of the Montvale, NJ-based Mercedes-Benz USA, the facility replaces current distribution operations located in Baltimore. It will stock medium- and slow-moving parts for smaller distribution centers in Illinois, Texas, Florida and California, and will simultaneously service more than 100 dealerships in the Northeast.

"Refining our distribution and service business through our new regional parts distribution centers is critical," Halata said at the ribbon-cutting. The facility is situated on a 70-acre site between Route 130 and the New Jersey Turnpike in the Exit 7A industrial submarket. The site itself is approved for expansion of up to a total of 1.2 million sf of space.
