It will include an emergency department, same-day surgery suites, a medical laboratory, diagnostic imaging, a sleep center andmedical office space. Work on the 93,000-sf complex is already underway and is expected to be completed by January 2006, says Michael Anctil, administrator of outpatient services.
The hospital's emergency room treats more than 70,000cases a year. "We've run out of room on this campus, and we neededto do something different," Anctil says. Anctil adds Wyandotte and its surroundings have an aging population that lends itself more to inpatient care provided at the main campus. The ambulatory-care center will be conveniently located for the younger, growing population near Brownstown Township, he says.
The new Brownstown Township center was designed by Hobbs + Black Associates Inc. in Ann Arbor and is being built by George W. Auch Co. in Pontiac. Brownstown Township is in southern Wayne County.
