"A fire caused substantial damage at the hotel only two weeks before its last scheduled opening in July 2002," says Iris M. Pinero, the hotel's general manager. "But rather than scrap their plans, the Scotto Brothers decided to rise from the ashes and rebuild."

The hotel is considered to be what Hilton calls a "Lighthouse Property," which is the elite level of the Hampton Inns brand. It has as variety of upscale amenities, according to Anthony Scotto, president/CEO of Scotto Brothers, and is "decorated with as European flare."
