BRIDGEWATER, NJ-Gap Inc. has signed a lease for 20,688 sf at the Somerset Shopping Center, a 214,000-sf open-air retail complex here. The company will use the space for Gap, GapKids, babyGap and GapBody stores.
Stanley Bernstein of the North Plainfield, NJ-based Levin Management Corp. negotiated the lease with Gap. Levin operates the center, one of the oldest in New Jersey, for the owner, a partnership that has had the center for decades. Terms of the lease were not disclosed.
"They are an excellent match with the area's demographics, which have been growing and improving for some time," says Matthew Harding, president and COO off Levin Management. "In fact, Somerset County is now one of the wealthiest in the nation."
Located at the intersection of routes 202, 206 and 22, Somerset Shopping Center is anchored by Barnes & Noble, OfficeMax and Linens 'n Things. Its other tenants include Eastern Mountain Sports, Annie Sez, Pier 1 Imports, TGI Friday's, Mikasa, RiteAid, Hallmark and Pearle Vision. The Gap Inc. stores are scheduled to open this summer.
