The Auburn Hills-based glass company had been considering expanding a plant in Texas. Gov. Jennifer Granholm in June offered Guardian a $1.6-million single-business tax credit and the Albion city council has offered tax abatements.

Walters says the company hopes to finish the expansion by the middle of next year. Production is expected to double at the plant, which currently employs about 275 people.
