Geraldine McKenna, former EVP of the Savoy Group, will be chief executive of the new group. It will operate from newly-acquired offices in Mayfair, London.
Maybourne also plans to acquire and develop super-luxury hotels globally. But the first project will be the addition of 35 new rooms/suites and a health spa at the Connaught. The group has also retained architect Lord Rogers as a consultant for an improvement-and-development strategy at the Berkeley.
"There is a clear gap in the market for a group managing only landmark, super-luxury hotel properties," says Quinlan chairman Derek Quinlan. "We remain committed to a substantial investment program for the Berkeley, Claridge's and the Connaught. The appointment of Richard Rogers is a sign of our determination to enhance these assets." Quinlan Private was founded in 1989. The group's assets include commercial office blocks, shopping centers, car-parks and hotels throughout Europe and North America.
