First Industrial, a Chicago-based real estate company, will soon begin the demolition of a 50,000-sf section of the building that will be replaced with a new 150,000-sf office/warehouse segment.
Located just a few miles outside of Baltimore and even closer to the border separating its home base of Baltimore County from Anne Arundel County, 4501 Hollins Ferry Rd. occupies a sprawling 40-acre parcel that provides superior visibility from the Capitol Beltway. The facility was originally developed to house the Carling Brewery Co., but it most recently served as the flour mixing plant for Wilkins-Rogers' Washington Quality Foods, which acquired the property in 1998 for nearly $7.3 million. With a groundbreaking anticipated for the end of 2005, the company plans to complete the development of its new addition sometime during the third quarter of 2006.
