The 246-room motel is located on 15 Mile Road and Van Dyke and is owned and operated by Victor Martin, an active player in the Detroit area hotel scene. Martin is treasurer of the Metro Detroit Convention and Visitor's Bureau and serves as chairman of the owner advisory committee.
Martin says metropolitan Detroit needs some type of mass transit system and less squabbling between politicians on both sides of Eight Mile Road. He agrees Detroit's three casinos should be built relatively close to each other near the Detroit River. He adds the area could be similar to the Boardwalk in Atlantic City, NJ and could attract thousands of people to Detroit weekly.
