Developed in 1972, Westchester West occupies a 4.5-acre spot off Interstate 495 in the 3200 block of Hewitt Avenue. For Berkshire, the buy increases its holdings in Maryland to a total of eight properties.
"The purchase of Westchester West continues the acquisition momentum of the company while strengthening our competitive standing in the Baltimore/Washington, DC metropolitan area," says Berkshire president and CFO David Quade. "We believe the property is attractive due to the strong economy of the Montgomery County market as well as its location with close proximity to several major highways."
Upon announcing the planned acquisition in December, Quade noted that the Silver Spring market is poised for solid growth in the next few years.
