SUGAR LAND, TX-Downtown Sugar Land soon will get a new look when a 150,000-sf office and retail complex comes out of the ground under a development plan that will change the Sugar Land Town Square streetscape.
Planned Community Developers broke ground on the site and have started construction on a six-story, class A office building that will add 140,000 sf of office and 10,000 sf of retail to the 32-acre Sugar Land Town Square development. The Sugar Land-based company, the development arm of Sugarland Properties, also is planning an adjacent two-story building with 38,000 sf of street retail and 22,400 sf of class A office space and a single-story structure building with 47,000 sf of combined office and retail space on the west end of the same block. Sugar Land Town Plaza already contains a mix of high-end retail stores, condominiums, restaurants, office space and a 300-room Marriott Hotel and Conference Center.
"The new town square office building not only represents a significant investment in the growth and vitality of downtown Sugar Land, but also enhances our vision of Sugar Land Town Square as a true lifestyle center that integrates office, retail and community elements." Don Janssen, SVP for the development firm, says in press release. Designed by lead architect Lee Mitchell of Ambrose, McEnany, the six-story office building, located next to Town Square Plaza and Sugar Land City Hall, is expected to be completed this year.
