Units in Bear Crossing will range from 1,950 sf to 2,600 sf. There will be nine floor plans priced from $399,000 to the low- and mid-$600,000s. They're priced far less than what Canadian-based Intrawest is expected to build on the ski mountain. The City of Denver has hired Intrawest to develop the base village around the Winter Park ski mountain.

"Winter Park has steadily grown in popularity during the past few years and is on the cusp of becoming a destination that will rival some of Colorado's most famous resorts," Solo tells GlobeSt.com. He adds that when Intrawest starts constructing its product next year, "real estate prices will boom," in the nearby areas.

Bear Crossing is being designed by the Breckenridge architectural firm Baker, Hogan & Honx and the Boulder firm Koshe Baker is designing the interior plans. TCD Construction of Grand Junction is the general contractor. "I like to hire local," Solo tells GlobeSt.com.

Solo tells GlobeSt.com he named the community while walking the land late last fall with some members of his marketing team. "It's a great story," Solo tells GlobeSt.com. "We were walking to get a view from some higher ground, and we looked back where we just were standing, and we saw a bear and then her two cubs. They were about 75 feet away from us. We knew as long as mama bear could see her cubs and could see us, we were all right. And I had the name."
