BRICK, NJ-Local officials have cleared the way for a new shopping center in this Ocean County township. JSM Brick LLC has gotten its final approvals to build the 288,245-sf shopping complex on 29 commercially zoned acres on Route 70 along this community's border with the city of Lakewood.

JSM Brick LLC is a subsidiary of the Piscataway, NJ-based Edgewood Properties, and that firm's vice president of leasing, Joe Morris, expects construction to be under way by later this spring. Completion of the project is anticipated for the summer of 2006. The project's price tag has not been disclosed.

And the project enters the construction phase with Costco lined up as the anchor tenant, according to Morris. The Issaquah, WA-based membership warehouse operator, which currently has more than 450 stores around the world, will occupy about one-quarter of the complex.

According to Morris, the leasing campaign is well under way for the rest of the shopping centers, with in-line slots ranging from 4,000 sf to 50,158 sf being marketed. Additional tenant announcements are anticipated shortly, he says. His firm hopes to attract "world-class national retailers."
