Tangle Brush Villa will rise as a three-story, 46,709-sf project on 3.6 acres near the intersection of Tangle Brush and Glen Loch drives. Developer Accessible Space Inc. is teaming with Bay Area Rehabilitation Center Inc. of Baytown for its second development in the Woodlands. The St. Paul affordable housing group acquired the land from the Woodlands Development Co.

The 540-sf, one-bedroom units will deliver in summer 2006, according to Ken Berry, a marketing specialist with Accessible Space. He says the project costs are still being fine-tuned. However, Accessible Space obtained $3.9 million in HUD subsidies to develop Tangle Brush Villas, designed by Holcomb, Musemeche & Associates Inc. of Houston. A general contractor decision is pending.

"The whole Houston area has a need for accessible, affordable housing," Berry tells GlobeSt.com. "We have a waiting list for our projects in the region." Tangle Brush Villa's monthly rents will be based on 30% of residents' adjusted gross monthly income.

Tangle Brush Villa's amenities include controlled-access entrance, laundry facilities, elevator, community room with mini-kitchen and an activity room. Accessible Space will be the property manager as it will be for the 20-unit Windvale Pines at 8500 N. Windvale Circle, an affordable rental complex for adults with physical disabilities. The Woodlands complex will open in the summer.
