"This is the fifth opening for the Crowne Plaza brand in North America so far this year," says Kevin Kowalski, vice president of brand management for the Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts chain." The high-rise property is newly redesigned, "with traditional decor, incorporating new furniture and carpet in the hotel's restaurant, lobby and guest rooms, and other features," says David Giampietro, the property's general manager. "The Crowne Plaza Englewood has taken on a completely new look with this renovation."

The makeover includes a variety of upgraded guest amenities as well, according to Giampietro. Also upgraded were its meeting facilities, which encompass 5,000 sf of function space, including two ballrooms and three meeting rooms. The property is located near I-95, I-80, Route 4, the New Jersey Turnpike and the George Washington Bridge to Manhattan.

The opening brings to three the number of Crowne Plaza hotels currently operating in the Garden State. The Crowne Plaza Englewood combines with sister properties in Secaucus and Clark for a total of 700 rooms under the brand in the state. Altogether, the Atlanta-based InterContinental Hotels Group's portfolio in New Jersey totals 44 hotels and nearly 7,000 rooms represented by five of its brands. The Crowne Plaza Englewood is owned and managed by Sunstone Hotels Investors Inc. of San Clemente, CA under a license agreement with an affiliate in the InterContinental Hotels Group.
