The company notes that the hotel is in the heart of the Northeast corridor and will contribute nearly $85 billion to the local economy over the next 20 years, compared to $15 billion now. Large-scale developments Stapleton and the Fitzsimons medical campus currently anchor the corridor.

"As the Northeast sector continues to see rapid travel increases due to the area's professional growth, a more sophisticated hotel is a necessity," says Timbers' general manager Steve Fisher. "The Timbers is meeting this need with our accommodations, upscale dining, spacious rooms and complete meeting facilities." Fisher notes the area's growth is producing the Denver metro area's highest hotel occupancy rates. In March, the Northeast sector boasted 68.8% occupancy compared to 58.8% occupancy in the metro area overall.

The hotel will provide 39 studios with 345-sf suites, 78 one-bedrooms at 690 sf each, and 10 two-bedrooms with 1,035 sf each. The average size of a unit is 700 sf--almost double the size of a typical 400-sf hotel room. Each room will include full kitchens, including stainless steel appliances, a microwave, granite counter tops and custom cabinetry. The hotel has 5,000 sf of meeting space with four meeting rooms and a ballroom.

The property is equipped with complimentary wireless Internet and has a business center with computer workstations and other business-related options. Dining facilities include an on-site restaurant, lounge and breakfast nook, and the fitness center includes cardiovascular and free-weight equipment.

Locally based designer Mandil Associates Inc. created a Western theme for the interior. The furniture was custom designed by Mandil in conjunction with HW Home of Boulder and Cherry Creek and other manufacturers, including Mitchell Gold. The landscape architecture includes a Zen-like setting with a meadow of Alpine trees, a stone water feature and a dry creek bed. The landscape design was created with water conservation and Xeriscape principles in mind.
