The design firm of HGA is providing engineering services andKnutson Construction Services is the contractor on the project. Theambulatory clinic is part of a $106-million proposal it has beforethe Health Department. Pending legislative approval, Fairview hopesto build a 120-bed hospital complete with emergency and traumaservices on the Fairview Maple Grove Health Care Campus. Thehospital and campus will have the potential to expand to 284beds.

Fairview Health Services recently appointed Mary Bakken seniorvice president and has put her in charge of leading the developmentof the Fairview Maple Grove Health Care Campus. Fairview is one ofthree providers competing to be chosen to build a Maple Grovehospital that would serve the northwest suburbs of the Twin Cities.Fairview says it is the only one that can have a hospital underconstruction in the next 12 months, and the one that would providethe broadest array of services.

The choice appears likely to go through a process that will besupervised by the Minnesota Department of Health. A bill wasrecently passed in the Minnesota Senate that authorizesconstruction of a new hospital in Maple Grove and creates animpartial process through the Department of Health for selectingamong three competing hospital proposals.
