The transaction was arranged by Peter Blanchard, a principal of the Garibaldi Group/Corfac International of Chatham, NJ, and James Southey of the Corfac affiliate in the UK, King Sturge. The sale price was not disclosed.
The site was most recently occupied by Kern McNeil International, a pharmaceutical firm. Previous occupants of the campus were Magla Products Corp. and Trans World Radio, which had used it as its world headquarters.
The Darcy School, founded in 1998, has occupied two temporary locations since then, including its current leased facility in Livingston, NJ. The acquisition signals the school's relocation to a permanent site for its pre-school and elementary classes and functions.
"We looked at more than 100 locations before finding this site," says a spokesman for the school. "This permanent home will allow us to fulfill our educational vision and to grow.
"We will use three buildings on the site," the spokesman continues. The office building constructed by Trans World Radio is being converted to classroom space. The original stone house will be an administrative building and library. The third building will house a cafeteria and multi-purpose space. The three buildings form a triangle around a central courtyard.
