The Detroit Newspaper Agency, which is the business entity for both the News and the Detroit Free Press, has listed 26 acres of riverfront land on Jefferson Avenue for sale with Grubb & Ellis Co. in Southfield. The DNA has not set a public asking price on the property.
The sale will be the end of a four-year effort at the newspapers to upgrade its Mound Road printing plant facility in Sterling Heights. Both the News and the Free Press will be printed at the Sterling Heights plant.
The riverfront plant includes 2,100 feet of frontage on the river and is one of the largest commercial sites listed for sale in the city. The plant is located in a 1.5-mile stretch that is being revitalized by the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy.
