SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ-Coaster Co. of America has signed a lease for 300,000 sf of industrial space at Matrix Development Group's new distribution facility at 45 Stults Rd. here. The distributor and wholesaler of craft-designed will use the space for warehouse/distribution purposes, and expects to take occupancy by the end of the year.

The Cranbury, NJ-based Matrix bought the facility's 29-acre site in late 2003 and subsequently demolished an existing, obsolete warehouse, according to Alec Taylor, the company's chief operating officer. Matrix began building 45 Stults Rd. in 2004 on a speculative basis. Coaster Co. of America's lease leaves just under 140,000 sf still available in the 439,000-sf building. Terms of the lease were not disclosed.

"The demand for this facility has been extremely strong," Taylor says, noting that the asset is located in the New Jersey Turnpike Exit 8A distribution market. The building's features include 36-ft minimum clear height, 77 dock door positions, all-new infrastructure, rail access and 66 trailer storage spaces.

The Santa Fe Springs, CA-based Coaster Co. of America began operations in 1979 and currently has annual sales in the $125-million range. The company imports and distributes ready-to-assemble furniture and accessories in the US and Mexico.
