THE WOODLANDS, TX-Urban Retreat, a day spa operator with three locations in the Galleria area, has chosen the Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel for its first suburban location outside Loop 610. The 16-year-old operator has signed a long-term lease for 7,500 sf of street-level retail space.
The 12-story, 345-room hotel, which opened in December 2002, has 20,000 sf of retail space. The roster includes Starbucks and an Italian restaurant.
Urban Retreat, which will open in October 2005, will be locally owned and operated by Urban Retreat of The Woodlands LLC. Founded by prominent businesswoman Francie Willis, the spa has been recognized in several publications and ranked as one of the top woman-owned businesses in the area. The new spa will offer the same services as the Galleria locations, including hair design services, an "old-fashion" barber shop and bridal services.
Doug Elliot of CB Richard Ellis Inc. represented Urban Retreat. Greg Jordan with the Woodlands Development Co. negotiated the deal for hotel owners.
