Christian Chambers, director of development in Grosvenor's Washington, DC office, says the center will fill an unmet need. "WesTech Business Park, which we have owned since 1998, has over half a million square feet of office space but no restaurants. The project, which will cost an estimated $16 million to complete, will feature five pad sites to be occupied by Chevy Chase Bank, TGI Friday's and three other restaurants, as well as two inline buildings, where Z Pizza will occupy space.

The 250-acre class A office and flex park, which can accommodate an additional 700,000 sf, is home to the likes of Kaiser Permanente, Children's Hospital Center, SoftMed Systems, Nextel and offices of the federal government. Just prior to beginning work on WestTech Village Center, Grosvenor sold 1.5 acres in the park to Baywood Hotels for development of a 104-room Hilton Garden Inn.
