NEW YORK CITY-Hennes & Mauritz, better known as H&M, has committed to 20,000 sf of retail space on the ground floor and mezzanine levels at the 233,000-sf 111 Fifth Ave. The class A office is located in Midtown South's Flatiron District.
H&M will open it eighth Manhattan store in the site that formerly housed a Daffy's store. The CB Richard Ellis Retail Services team of Jedd Nero and Robert Gibson negotiated the 15-year lease transaction on behalf of the tenant. Ariel Schuster and Robert K. Futterman of RKF & Associates represented the building ownership, the Winter Organization. Additional leasing information was not released.
The retailer plans to occupy 7,000 sf on the ground level, 10,000 sf of mezzanine space and approximately 3,000 sf of lower level shopping space at the building. "H & M fits seamlessly in the highly-trafficked Flatiron District along Fifth Avenue, joining other major retailers like Banana Republic, Club Monaco, Esprit and J Crew," says Nero.
