09/6/05: If there is one positiveaspect of last week's horrific events in the Gulf Coast, it is thatin time of crisis this nation still pulls together and sends helpwhere it's needed. The real estate community is doing its share byproviding a network of help, and we've featured this onGlobeSt.com. However, this is not a time for self-congratulationbut, rather, a time for reflection. There is already a good deal offinger-pointing and all the other acrimonius activities that willfill the airwaves for months, if not years. And there is apparentlyplenty of blame to share throughout every level of government. Yet,Americans are coming together--in spite of those pundits,politicians and other assorted media hogs who are yelling and notlistening. Let's hope we tone down the rhetoric and play up thecompassion.

(MIAMI) Newly promoted is Scott Sime, who hasbeen named managing director of the firm's Downtown Miami office.Sime was most recently head of the company's western Dade Countyoffice. He has been at CBRE for the past five years.

(NEW YORK CITY) The company has tapped MarcPackman as director, deploying him to its Manhattan-basedstrategic agency services leasing team. Packman was most recentlydirector of leasing at Tishman Speyer Properties, and has handledleasing for properties such as Rockfeller Center and the ChryslerBuilding.

(CHICAGO) Steven R. Baron has been appointedexecutive vice president for tenant representation and transactionservices. Baron has left his prior post as executive vice presidentat Prime Group Realty Trust, where he ran all leasing activitiesfor the Downtown Chicago office portfolio.

(MIAMI) New to the firm is Theodore Carter, whojoins as senior managing director. Carter will lead the company'sSouth Florida market operations, where he will run four offices inDade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. He was most recentlypresident and CEO of the National Capital Revitalization Corp. Thefirm has also hired Steven Gomez, formerly ofMarcus & Millichap, to head its western Dade Countyoffice.

(LOS ANGELES) On the heels of the firm's recent appointment ofScott Lunine--most recently at Sperry Van Ness--assenior vice president and national sales director, SCI hasappointed five new regional directors: Bill Corwin, BrentStratton, Charles Moody, Paul White and BrianO'Brien. They will serve the new Orange County, Salt LakeCity, Atlanta, Miami and New England offices, respectively.

(ATLANTA; BOSTON) Mike Warren has come on boardas senior vice president in the Atlanta office. He comes fromCarter, where he was senior vice president since 1984. Coming alongwith him from Carter are Cathy Sheehan andJohn Fulkerson, who will focus on office tenantrepresentation. The firm has also tapped MichaelO'Leary as advisor in its Boston office. He was mostrecently assistant vice president at Cresa Partners.

(ALEXANDRIA, VA) James F. Lima has joined thecompany as senior development director responsible for developinglarge-scale mixed-use projects in the New York City area. Limacomes from New York's Governors Island Preservation and EducationCorp., where, as president, he had been a mayoral appointee.


Ideal candidate will assist director of sales as needed, with responsibilities that include conducting competitor research using the Internet, making sales calls to potential clients, and updating sales database to track lead generation and status. He or she will also coordinate mailing of hard copy brochures to potential clients.

Executive Vice President, Development & Membership

Reporting to COO, successful candidate will have primary responsibility for conceptual, programmatic and managerial functions of membership and development areas. This involves coordinating advertising, sponsorship, and trade show exhibit sales while also implementing business development programs and overseeing customer service efforts.

Proposal Manager

Most qualified applicant will write and finalize RFPs while also creating, editing and maintaining a library of firm's best responses and product information in RFPs. He or she will collaborate with design staff and senior capital-raising professionals to ensure that key messages are communicated in final RFPs, and also write, edit and proofread marketing materials.

Asset Manager

Using knowledge of property management, ideal applicant will create investment strategies and oversee the operations of a portfolio of real estate located nationwide. He or she will communicate daily with property managers, leasing agents, vendors, tenants and senior management. Background should include management, financial analysis and market studies.

REO Analyst

Providing analytical and modeling support to a team of REO managers, ideal candidate will build and maintain computer models to project financial returns and/or property values. He or she will also perform market research, financial statements and operating statement analysis, which includes review, update, and analysis of historical financial information.

Vice President, Leasing, Southwestern Region

Suitable applicant will manage leasing team while overseeing all aspects of leasing portfolio of approximately 100 neighborhood and community shopping centers containing 12 million square feet. This includes preparing annual leasing budget and providing due diligence relating to acquisitions.

Director of Leasing

Reporting to managing director, director of leasing is responsible for marketing and leasing office and office/flex real estat and negotiating commercial lease transactions in the Bergen/Passaic County, NJ markets. He or she will also manage leasing-related processes. A background in finance or sales is important.
