Trump's Denver partner for the proposed massive redevelopment of the land around Denver Union Station, long-time developer and former Denver Broncos player Odell Barry, says the reason that the group only sent a brief response to the city's RFQ for is because they only made the decision to submit 24 hours before the deadline. But now, the team would like a chance to submit a more detailed account of why it thinks that the team that also includes Baryrokc Group LLC, is qualified to be the master developer on the giant project.

According to sources close to the project, that probably won't happen. However, there may be another way to get around not answering the questions required in the RFQ. The RFQ, while not extremely specific, did say that developers needed to address everything from financial resources, team leaders, experience with public-private partnerships and background of minority hiring.

"The review team felt that giving the Trump team another chance to submit the RFQ, probably does not comply with the original RFQ rules," Scott Reed, spokesman for the Regional Transportation District, and a staff member on the team tells GlobeSt.com. "That is the direction the review team is leaning."

"However, we are in the process of developing questions to check references and compiling more information," and Trump, along with any of the other 10 teams, conceivably could elaborate on their qualifications at that time, he adds. "We would do this for any of the respondents," Reed says. "As part of our review process, we could be submitting more questions, as we do research on the qualifications of the teams and gather information."

On Monday, the team will give its progress on how it plans to continue its due diligence on the development teams to the Executive Oversight Committee. But the team will not give the EOC, which is responsible for coming up with a short list and ultimately a winner, any recommendations, Reed emphasizes. The EOC plans to identify the short list of development teams in October.
