In the middle of an inspirational talk to more than 1,000 people attending the Bixpo 2005 Business & Technology Expo, Trump says that he also has his eye on another potential development in the Mile-High City. Trump says he is exploring developing what would be one of the biggest or even the biggest tower ever built in downtown Denver.
Following the meeting, in a brief interview a he walked to the black, stretch Excursion SUV, which would take him to an invitation-only party, Trump declined to give any details, other than to say that it would be very exciting and he would make an announcement if he can pull off the deal. It's likely that the tower would be a combination of a hotel, condos and retail, and possibly a small amount of office space--possibly office condominiums. Experts say that the market doesn't yet exist downtown to justify construction of spec rental office space, although there are some office condos underway.
As far as Union Station, Trump says that he's not sure if his team will make the short list. But, in typical Trump style, he says he has no doubt that Denver wants him and that he would do the best job of the other contenders, which include a number of heavyweight developers.
One member of Trump's team, Felix H. Satter, of the Bayrock Group LLC, says he planned on visiting Union Station late Wednesday. Trump, for his part, says he plans on touring Union Station in the near future. "I don't have my daytimer with me, so I'm not sure when," he tells GlobeSt.com. During his talk, he says he frequently visits Denver, either to do business in the city or on his way to Vail or Aspen.
