QUAKERTOWN, PA-Denver-based ProLogis is developing a 935,540-sfdistribution center for Georgia-Pacific Corp. It is located at 3000AM Dr. on 61 acres in Quakertown Interchange Commerce Center.Dallas-based Cadence McShane Corp. won the construction contractthrough a competitive bid process with Catellus, prior to its$5.5-billion acquisition by ProLogis this September, according toNeal Harper, president of Cadence McShane.

Harper declined to disclose the estimated construction cost, andcalls to ProLogis and Georgia-Pacific were not returned bydeadline. Days ago, Gene Preston, SVP of Chicago-based HigginsDevelopment Corp., estimated the construction cost of his company'sfacility here in the Lehigh Valley at about $40 per sf. Oncondition of anonymity, an Allentown-based developer tellsGlobeSt.com that, "given its scale, the Georgia-Pacific buildingwould probably cost less, possibly between $30 per sf and $35 persf," which would put the investment near the $30-million mark.
