The development site is in the 3,000-acre Eagle's Landing mixed-use community east of Interstate 75. The undertaking would have about 300 hotel rooms, 50 residential condominiums and a conference center, city council sources say. Projected condo prices are $300,000 to $1.5 million.

The 55-story, 1,023-foot tall Bank of America plaza on Atlanta's Downtown Peachtree Street is the tallest building in Atlanta and one of the tallest in the entire Southeast. The 31-story Plaza Ravinia Office Tower in Perimeter Center, DeKalb County, is the second tallest at 31 stories and 444 feet tall. The Southbridge building, about 20 miles south of Downtown Atlanta, would be about 400 feet tall.

There's one little hitch associated with the planned 25-story project, though. Stockbridge currently has a four-story, 60-foot cap on new construction. The city council would have to rewrite the regulations to allow the new construction in a new zoning district, sources reveal.

The development group promoting the project won't be comfortable searching for a hotel chain affiliation until its rezoning request is approved, sources also say. The Stockbridge city council is expected to vote for the rezoning unanimously.
