Completed in 2002, the 10-story, 318,850-sf courthouse contains 10 District, four Magistrate and one Special Proceedings courtrooms, the Clerk of the Court and the US Marshal Service. Sustainable design features include extensive use of daylight, low-emitting materials, wood from sustainable forests, high-performance glazing and evaporative cooling.
Started in 1996, the Green Building Challenge is a collaboration of 12 participating countries that was established to develop approaches for measuring the environmental performance of buildings taking into account regional and national conditions.
