The proposed renovation project, to be constructed atop thewatering hole's Lansdown Street and Brookline Avenue location, would allow 440 fans atop the roof deck to hear the game andpossibly catch a home-run ball. "It's a huge expansion," Daniel F.Pokaski, chairman of the city's licensing board tells GlobeSt.com."They're not only expanding on the roof deck but their dining areaand function halls. They're looking to go from about 400 people toabout 1,200."

Pokaski says one of the main concerns, however, is the effect aroof deck--and the throng of Red Sox fans on it during homegames--would have on the neighborhood. "The concerns with the roofdeck are obvious. We don't need people throwing things off the roofor falling off the roof. We're going to keep an open mind about itbut I think (the owner) has a selling job to do."

Cask 'n Flagon owner, Dana Van Fleet, could not be reached byGlobeSt.com for comment. Pokaski says a hearing on the matter willbe held Nov. 30 with a decision expected by the next day.
