ATLANTA-Maranda Walker, vice president, retail services in the Atlanta office of Staubach Co. for the last five months, has returned to the local office of CB Richard Ellis Inc. where she has been named senior director of retail services for the firm's Atlanta office and the Southeast.
Walker and five other brokers left CB Richard Ellis Inc. June 1 to work for Staubach in a move they hoped would further their careers, as GlobeSt.com previously reported. But Walker now tells GlobeSt.com she decided to leave Staubach because "at Staubach, I was on a team. CBRE is an opportunity to build my own team."
The other five brokers are still at Staubach. They are Ray Uttenhove, Liz Whiteside, Brian Lefkoff, Loretta Van Zutphen and Lawre Dent. Walker tells GlobeSt.com the reason she left CBRE for Staubach was to follow her team mates. "I left because my team left," she says. "My loyalty was to them." Maranda was a retail tenant rep broker for four years at CBRE.
On Walker's departure, Uttenhove, executive vice president and managing principal of Staubach's retail Southeast division, tells GlobeSt.com, "CBRE is a great firm and we value Maranda as a professional. She is very talented and we wish her the best of luck."
At CBRE, she will be building a new Atlanta/Southeast retail tenant representation team and will also start an asset services team representing retail property owners' leasing needs.
"Bringing Maranda back to CB Richard Ellis is a strategic win for us," says Brett Hunsaker, senior managing director of CBRE's Atlanta office. "She is the cornerstone of our efforts to build the finest retail tenant representation and asset services group in the Southeast." When Maranda left CBRE for Staubach, Hunsaker told GlobeSt.com, "In our industry, there are always opportunities for talented individuals."
Walker currently represents Washington Mutual in its efforts to find more than 100 branch office locations in metro Atlanta. She also has managed the US market entry of Floors Today, an affiliate of British flooring firm Floors To Go, and represented Kroger and Target. Before initially joining CBRE, Walker was a consultant for Sales! Inc. Multi-Flamily Leasing Solutions in Atlanta. She has been in commercial real estate for five years.
Walker is a graduate of Clark Atlanta University and the University of Georgia where she earned an MBA. She is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, Commercial Real Estate Women, Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors and the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce.
