Also planned is an on-campus 89,000-sf shopping center, an estimated $60-million football stadium and new dormitories. The projects are part of the overall $300-million master-planned undertaking by the 42-year-old, 44,000-student institution. Kansas City, MO-based HOK Architects is designing the projects.

UCF officials said the projects will be funded by revenue from 2,000 rental dormitory rooms, two parking garages and near-future retail development on the campus. No public funds will be used or requested, according to UCF athletic director Steve Orsini.

The school expects to generate other revenue by selling naming rights at the arena and from 16 luxury suites, 500 club suites and 64 loge seats. Suites will sell for $25,000 each; loge boxes for $1,000 per seat; and club seats for about $500 per suite.

Among the retailers expected to lease space at the UCF shopping center are Ron Jon Surf Shop, Barnes & Noble bookstore and a Starbucks coffee outlet, school officials confirm.
