FORNEY, TX-United Commercial Realty recently did two retail deals for a total of 78,855 sf in the Mustang Crossing Shopping Center at the northeast corner of U.S. 80 and FM 548 in this Dallas suburb. In the larger of the two deals, AutoZone Inc. took 34,855 sf. The deal was handled by United Commercial broker Thurston Witt Jr.In the other deal, Whataburger leased a 34,000 sf site. That deal was handled by Witt and fellow UCR broker Darrell Hernandez. Justin Allen represented the shopping center.Mustang Crossing is anchored by a 186,715-sf Wal-Mart Supercenter, according to the North Central Texas Council of Governments Research and Information Services. The group also notes that a Home Depot and a movie theater are on tap for the center.Forney, in northwest Kaufman County, is 20 minutes east of downtown Dallas. Highway 80 is the northern border and Interstate 20 is the southern border. Forney borders on the East Fork of the Trinity River. There are thousands of potential home sites along a ridge overlooking the Trinity River, with view of the Dallas skyline. As that area is developed, it could boost retail activity, as retail follows rooftops.
