The property, at 1250 Maplelawn, near West Maple and North Crooks roads, was listed at $1.85 million and was on the market for six months. According to Dan Labes, senior vice president with Grubb & Ellis Co.'s Southfield office, the property attracted a number of offers, but the buyer received the nod for purchase because of competitive pricing.
In addition, "there was a pre-existing relationship between Campbell/Manix and the seller of the building," says Labes, who negotiated the transaction on behalf of both parties. Labes tells GlobeSt.com that the seller, who had originally purchased the property for his own business, had not occupied the space for several years. "It was leased out, the tenant vacated it, and the seller thought it was a good time to sell."
The buyer, in the meantime, will renovate the space with Campbell/Manix's help, and will occupy it as office space, Labes says.
