The company, currently based here, paid a reported $1.4 million for the department store from the seller, Jackson Community College, as well as an adjacent downtown center with 103 parking spots. Renovation to the tune of $4.5 million has begun, with completion scheduled for summer 2006.
To date, ABC has received a $447,500 brownfield Single Business Tax credit, as well as an estimated $1 million in tax savings over a 12-year period, under the Obsolete Property Rehabilitation District Policy. Also involved has been a $200,000 loan from the Enterprise Group of Jackson, which is an economic development agency offering services to businesses who want to relocate to or expand within Jackson County.
