City Center

Hogan Construction Group of Norcross built the project in 19 months on a 5.5-acre site that previously housed the Korger-anchored Oakville Village Shopping Center on US 78 at GA 24. The completion date was delayed by inclement weather conditions and unexpected blasting of rock under the City Hall building's foundation that added about $200,000 to the original estimated cost, city staffers tell GlobeSt.com.

Planning for the new City Hall and Seniors Center began in 2001, as GlobeSt.com previously reported. At that time, the city agreed to exchange property with the Snellville United Methodist Church which owned the shopping center land.

The City Center venture is generating continued developer interest in Snellville, area brokers and marketers tell GlobeSt.com. The city has a total 94 subdivisions among its land area of 9.7 square miles. The newest project under development is Wisteria Square, a $74-million, nine-building mixed-use community. Spohntown Corp. of Duluth is developing the 444,600-sf project, as GlobeSt.com previously reported.
