Airport Properties II signed a multi-year sublease for approximately four acres near the entrance to the airport. Charles Seliga, president and COO of Stewart International Airport, confirmed that the deal met with the approval of the owner of the airport, the New York State Department of Transportation. The airport is managed under a 99-year-lease agreement with National Express Corp. No terms of the sublease were released. The facility will be the first hotel on the airport's grounds.

Among the other five partners in Airport Properties II are Richard O'Beirne, executive director of the Newburgh-based Construction Contractors Association of the Hudson Valley, and Lee Browning, Jr., who Jason says is a hotel investor. Jason is a partner in the Chestnut Ridge-based law firm Jason, Nesson & Swift LLP.

He termed the recent go-ahead of a delayed road project at the airport's Drury Lane a "fortunate coincidence." That project, as well as the ongoing work nearby to connect Interstate 84 with the New York State Thruway, will enhance access to the airport.

The Hilton Homewood Suites will have amenities including a 6,000-sf conference center. Seliga says the development will help bring in corporate business to the airport as well as assist in the marketing of the site to airline carriers. Recently, Stewart International Airport officials announced that come this May the airport will be known as Hudson Valley International Airport.
