The Sona MedSpa will open in an 8,000-sf office building at 15396 N. 83rd Ave. Area developer Stephen I. Wong plans to open the shop at the end of this quarter or early second quarter. "This is a brand-new building, just completed, and in shell condition when we saw it," says Matthew Gardner, office specialist with NAI Horizon in Phoenix. A broker with local firm, Specialty Retail Property, represented the property owner, Koll Development Co. of Dallas.

Gardner tells GlobeSt.com that Wong plans to open four to six more shops in the metro. "A lot of the expansion will depend on how this newest franchise goes and how the market changes," he says.

A Sona MedSpa has been open at 17015 N. Scottsdale Rd. for several years, but it's owned by another franchisee. Gardner says Wong's rollout is part of Sona MedSpa's long-range goal to open 200 shops nationwide in the coming years.

Gardner says Arrowhead Corporate Center's appeal is its location. "It's right in the heart of everything that's going on in Peoria, with close proximity to sports and nice restaurants," he explains. It's also close to Loop 101. "It backs right up to it and provides great visibility from the freeway," he adds.

The franchised clinics for laser hair removal are billed as having the ambiance of a day spa. Gardner says recently developed office buildings in high-income areas are ideal locations for a Sona MedSpa. First floor, high-end office buildings are preferred due to the easy ingress and egress and ample parking that usually prevail.

Additionally, the Sona MedSpa M.O. is to set up shop on the outskirts of major metro areas, then move inward. "The next area we're debating locally is Chandler, possibly Ahwautaukee or Goodyear," Gardner says. "We'll determine during the next half-year to year when and where the next one will go up."
