Texas State Title's 8,277-sf office at 10000 Memorial Dr. will become a branch of Stewart Title of Houston, a wholly owned subsidiary of Stewart Title Co. No changes are planned for Texas State Title's existing management or staff. Neither firm's local executives could be reached for comment prior to publication time.
Though the acquisition is new, the relationship between the two companies is not.
"We have been a Stewart agent since 1979," Steve Vallone, president of Texas State Title, says in a press release. "During that time, we have issued Stewart Title policies on many of the largest deals done in Texas. It will be an easy transition for us and our clients."
From Stewart Title's perspective, it will increase its commercial real estate volume. "This acquisition is an example of our ongoing expansion in the Harris County market," says E.D. Lester, Stewart's chairman of the board, "and also will strengthen our presence in the commercial arena."
