Located along Jomtien Beach, 90 minutes from Bangkok, the property will be known as Le Meridien Pattaya Resort. Amenities will include 11,000 sf of meeting space, three food and beverage outlets, an outdoor swimming pool and a full service spa. The hotel will be part of a larger development that also includes unbranded condominiums.
In addition to Pattaya, the Le Meridien brand has about 10 hotels planned to open in 2006, including Le Royal Meridien in Shanghai and other cities in India and China. While Le Meridien Pattaya Resort is the first Le Meridien deal signed for the Asia Pacific since Starwood acquired the brand, Starwood will soon be operating 16 hotels in Thailand. Starwood currently operates 12 hotels in Bangkok, Chiangmai, Samui, Pattaya, Krabi and Phuket, and has five under development in Bangkok, Chiangmai, Pattaya, Phuket and Hua Hin.
Le Meridien Hotels & Resorts operated 120 luxury and upscale hotels in 49 countries worldwide. In addition, through a strategic alliance with JAL-owned Nikko Hotels, Le Meridien guests have access to an additional 52 properties around the world. The owner of the brand, Starwood, operates 850 properties in more than 95 countries.
