Laird Norton recently sold its building materials business, Lanoga, to Fidelity Investments of Boston but held on to the underlying real estate, which the Fidelity-owned Lanoga is now leasing back each of the properties on a long-term basis. Lanoga oversees brands such as Lumbermens in Washington, Spenard Builders Supply in Alaska, Home Lumber in Colorado and Dixieline Lumber in Southern California.

Locally based Diane McMahon, director of asset services for C&W of Oregon and the point of contact on the assignment, tells GlobeSt.com that C&W will provide asset management and tax consulting services, especially tax assessment reviews and appeals. Prior to this assignment--which McMahon says triples C&W/Oregon's management portfolio--C&W assisted Laird Norton in appraising their operations prior to the sale of Lanoga.

"We have been working with Laird Norton for several months now, helping them to identify asset issues and strategies to ensure they had the appropriate structure in place," says Jim Arce, C&W managing director of asset services for the Western Region. "They are now our single largest property management assignment on the West Coast in terms of the number of locations and square footage."
