PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA-Columbia, MD-headquartered US Foodservice has revealed that it will add 50,000 sf of warehouse and office space to its 220,000-sf distribution center just outside the City of Manassas on Livingston Road. The company, which supplies food products to restaurants and other foodservice concerns, will spend $7.5 million to facilitate the expansion.
The effort is expected to bring 60 new jobs to the area. Earlier this year, parent company Ahold announced cutbacks at a US Foodservice distribution center Connecticut. "With the excellent access to the Mid-Atlantic region that Prince William County offers, and the demand for greater distribution needs, this expansion will enable us to keep up with market demands," US Foodservice president Bill Nashwinter says.
The US Foodservice center, developed in 1985, occupies a nearly 30-acre parcel just off Route 234, near Interstate 66. Speaking about the company's decision to grow within the county, Sean T. Connaughton, chairman of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors, says "this expansion highlights Prince William County's easy access to the market, and illustrates our ideal location for distribution facilities."
