Andrew Ratner, C&W's executive vice president for the West Coast region, tells GlobeSt.com that while C&W's local appraisal division has been outperforming for the past couple of years, things have been more difficult on the brokerage side, in part due to increased competition from new local and regional brokerage firms. "We're looking hard at how we will build back up, which we will do with John," Ratner says. "He has done a fantastic job up in Seattle and Bellevue."
Miller came to C&W 15 months ago from Unico Properties, the Seattle-based real estate company that acquired the US Bancorp Tower in Downtown Portland in 2000. In a prepared statement, Miller tells GlobeSt.com that he is looking forward to the opportunity of running C&W Oregon, and in the coming weeks will be working with the team in Portland "to further define our goals and initiatives for 2006."
Shanley said last week he is leaving "to pursue career interests more entrepreneurial in nature," but did not provide any specific detail. He held the managing director post for six years, wherein he was responsible for implementation of the company's performance. Prior to that, he served for two years as C&W Oregon's director of asset services.
Ratner says he had been working closely with Shanley over the past year or so. "We think the world of Terry," he says. "Terry has passion for pursuing development and it just became the right time for him to do that and for us the right time to say 'OK, John Miller, you are taking over.'"
