TAMPA, FL-Joint venture partners Donald J. Trump of New York and locally based SimDag have broken ground on Trump Tower Tampa. The planned 52-story, 192-unit condominium community will be the tallest residential or office structure in Central and North Florida when completed in 2008.
About 95% of the homes are already pre-sold in a price range from $900,000 to $7 million. "The market certainly responded," says SimDag CEO Frank Dagostino. "Even with a price increase necessitated by rapidly accelerating construction costs, all but a few units have been sold, except for those we are holding off the market to sell in the future, likely when we near the end of construction."
The average living area is 1,991 sf to 6,150 sf. New York-based Turner Construction Co. is the general contractor on the project located on a 1.5-acre site at 111 South Ashley Dr. The site faces the Gulf of Mexico along the Hillsborough River in the center of Tampa's financial and cultural districts.
SimDag president Robert E. Lyons says the selection of Turner as general contractor was "a perfect fit" with the partners' "demands and expectations of our clients, people with the wherewithal to live anywhere they like." Locally based Smith Barnes Santiesteban Architecture Inc. designed Trump Tower Tampa.
Besides Dagostino and Lyons, other SimDag partners are Dr. Howard Howell, Patrick Sheppard and Jody Simon.
