HARRISBURG, PA-Nestle Purina PetCare Co. has signed a lease for 140,500 sf in the 262,500-sf Harrisburg Distribution Center in Upper Allen Business Park. The space, which raises occupancy in the building to 100%, provides additional warehousing and distribution capacity for the company's pet product plant in nearby Mechanicsburg.
Paul Loosmann, SVP and Pennsylvania market officer for Denver-based ProLogis, represented the building owner. Dan Alderman of locally based NAI/CIR represented the tenant. The aggregate value and terms of the lease are undisclosed. On condition of anonymity, a Central Pennsylvania industrial specialist tells GlobeSt.com, "rates range between $4 per sf and $4.50 per sf."
A ProLogis spokesperson says the building was completed in 1997. The business park is located at the corner of Independence Avenue and Allendale Road, just off the Pennsylvania Turnpike, which offers access to the Capital Beltway. "Upper Allen Business Park was the most logical choice for our new warehouse and distribution facility given its close proximity to our existing Mechanicsburg location and a number of major interstate highways offering access to markets in the mid-Atlantic region," says Ken Moyer, logistics manager for the St. Louis-based pet products manufacturer, in a statement.
Nestle Purina PetCare operates worldwide and is part of Vevey, Switzerland-based Nestle SA, which lays claim to being the world's largest food company. Nestle USA is based in Glendale, CA. ProLogis provides distribution facilities and services covering more than 377 million sf in more than 2,300 properties in 77 markets throughout North America, Europe and Asia.
