SHELBY TOWNSHIP, MI-Soulliere Decorative Stone has purchased a 30,000-sf industrial building where the company plans to locate a stone cutting and etching operation.
The purchase price of the building, located at 4175 22 Mile Rd., was not disclosed. The seller of the property was Shelby Properties LLC. Larry Balone of Colliers International, represented both parties in the transaction.
Balone tells GlobeSt.com that the buyer plans to expand its current operations and open a stone cutting and etching operation in the facility. The two-story building has 24,000 sf of warehouse space and a truck dock.
Prior to the sale, the Utica school system leased the building, which it used to house its maintenance department. However, the school system built a new facility and relocated the operations. "The owner's original intent was to lease the building to a new tenant, but decided to go with a sale instead. He just wanted to move away from this property," Balone says.
Although industrial sales have been strong throughout Michigan, there are few sales in the Shelby area, says Balone. "It just happened to work out that the buyer and seller were able to agree on a price for the building."
