He has served as interim CEO of the Atlanta-based organization since late November 2005. Concurrently he was chief learning officer, heading the team that is responsible for the organization's education and research programs. Chief among them is the Applied Research Center, currently involved in a study of evolving models of integrated workplace management.
In making the announcement, Jeffrey L. Elie, CoreNet chairman, called the appointment "a logical move," and said Knight "has the leadership skills necessary to advance the mission of CoreNet Global while keeping pace with rapid change in the industry." CoreNet's approximately 7,500 members include corporate real estate executives that represent large corporations worldwide and manage an aggregate of $1.2 trillion in corporate assets.
The theme of the summit is "Risk and Reward: Your Role in Recognizing Opportunity." More than 2,000 members are in attendance, according to a CoreNet spokesman, and there are more than 135 exhibitors.
